Another election season is upon us for Johnson County, and I encourage you to take time to learn about your local candidates and vote on On Tuesday, August 1, voters in districts with contested primary elections will have the opportunity to vote during this first important step in our election process. On Tuesday, November 7 voters will go to the polls to choose from a broader slate of candidates in the 2023 General Election.

Kansans also have the opportunity to vote in advance. For details on advance voting and other and key election dates click here.

In November 2021, only 25% of registered Johnson County voters cast a vote. While voter participation has been up recently, that still means a small percentage of the registered voters in Johnson County decided which candidates will make decisions that impact everyone. We can do better!

Exercising your civic right to vote is critically important in determining the best course for the cities and state where we live, work, and play. Won’t you join me in working to improve voter turnout this year?
